The Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Dr. Ulrich Seidenberger, and the Executive Director of the International Trade Center (ITC), Arancha González today signed an funding agreement between Germany and ITC over close to EUR 2 million for the year 2017. The funding is being made available by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
With this renewed support Germany recognizes ITC’s important role in ensuring that trade serves as an engine for sustainable development and helps to create economic opportunities in partner countries. The areas of cooperation include voluntary sustainability standards, the “Ethical Fashion Initiative”, trade facilitation and the strengthening of trade support institutions.
The cooperation between ITC and Germany complements Germany’s bilateral development assistance portfolio in the area of “Aid-for-Trade” and partnerships with other organisations, including the World Bank, UNCTAD, WTO and the Enhanced Integrated Framework, a Aid-for-Trade partnership between the Least Developed Countries, international organisations and developed countries.
