Germany supports the SAS

On 15 June 2017 Ambassador Michael Biontino, Permanent Representative of Germany to the Conference on Disarmament, and the Director of Small Arms Survey, Mr. Eric G. Berman, signed an Agreement about granting of a voluntary contribution of 325.000 Euros financial support for the project “SAS - Enhanced coordination, effectiveness, and sustainability of the continental response to the illicit proliferation of SALW”.
The contribution, shall be used primarily to build the capacity of AU Member States to enable them implement effective measures to address all aspects of illicit SALW proliferation as outlined in the regional and international instruments, including legislative measures, transfers and brokering controls, PSSM, and arms marking and tracing. The project will be carried out in coordination with the support provided by the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC) to the African Union
